Symposium on “High-dimensional Surrogate Modeling for Parametric Frequency Domain Problems” (SuMoFreq 2027)

The approximation of the frequency response functions (FRFs) of complex systems has been an active field of research in engineering for decades. Incorporating variable system parameters introduces additional challenges, particularly when high-dimensional parameter spaces interact with strong dynamic variability (e.g., stability preservation, curse of dimensionality, pole tracking and matching). While parametric extensions of established methods – such as Vector Fitting, parametric AAA, the Loewner approach, Model Order Reduction, and data-driven surrogates – show strong promise, scaling these approaches to complex, large-scale industrial applications remains an active and exciting frontier. In this workshop we will bring together experts across different fields, such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, applied mathematics and computational sciences to discuss recent developments and advances and the challenges of translating advanced mathematical methods into real-world benchmarks and industrial application. The workshop will have an informal character and provide sufficient time for exchange and scientific discussion. Topics include, but are not limited to:
- High-dimensional parametric FRFs & multivariate rational approximation
- Parametric interpolation & model order reduction / low-rank methods
- Stability, causality, and passivity preservation in surrogate modeling
- Uncertainty Quantification (UQ) and sensitivity analysis in simulation workflows
- Kernel/Gaussian process and machine learning surrogates
- Applications in electromagnetic compatibility, microwave engineering, vibroacoustics, operational modal analysis, structural health monitoring and others

Contributions
There are two kinds of contributions to the symposium possible from your side:
- Presentations in the plenary sessions (30min, including 10min of discussion)
- Posters in a corresponding session (poster size at least DIN A1)
We may shift your contribution between presentation/poster to fill all slots of the programme.
Abstracts for both types of contributions may be sent to sumofreq2027@ce.tu-… as emails or with a plain text attachment. Each abstract should contain the following data:
- Type of contribution (presentation or poster)
- Title
- Name(s) of author(s), including affiliation(s)
- Summary (max. 2,500 characters incl. whitespaces)
Important dates
- Begin of registration: 1 October 2026
- Deadline for submission of abstracts: 30 November 2026
- Notification of acceptance: 12 January 2027
